Job Description

Experienced board-certified cardiologist to join join as Chief and provide high quality general cardiology care in office-based and inpatient settings.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Provides specialized medical care to patients with problems relating to the cardiovascular system.
  • Examine, obtain medical history and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Collaborate on improvement in care delivery and service with management, other physicians and staff.
  • Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Create treatment plans, and involve patients and family members in those plans.
  • Promotes wellness and health education in the community.
  • Initiates appropriate referrals to specialists and hospital programs.
  • Ensures proper patient documentation is timely, accurate and complete.
  • Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing and coding.
  • Participates in on-call coverage for the practice and hospital. Call rotation of 1 in 6. (Weekends hospital EKG +ECG reading rotations as assigned)
  • Provides quality supervision of residents, medical students, nurses, medical assistants, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other clinical staff at the site.
Chief Responsibilities:
  • Assist credentialing process.
  • Monitor quality care within department.
  • Establish program of continuing education in cardiology.
  • Work with practice and hospital leadership on performance improvement initiatives.
Education/Licensing Requirements:
  • Graduation from accredited medical school (MD or DO).
  • Graduation from accredited Internal Medicine & Cardiology.
  • Valid and unrestricted Connecticut medical license or ability to obtain.
  • Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate.
  • Board certified in Cardiovascular Disease.
  • Certification in Echocardiography preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in practice.
